📅 Homecoming Events

The week begins with Powder Puff Football on Sunday, September 27, with gates opening at 11:00 a.m. and games beginning at 2:00 p.m.

On Friday, October 2, the Homecoming Parade begins at 3:00 p.m., followed by the Homecoming Football Game at 7:00 p.m.

Our celebration concludes on Saturday, October 3, with Homecoming Coronation at 7:00 p.m. and the Homecoming Dance from 8:00–10:00 p.m. Coronation is a free event that is open to the public!

School-Sponsored vs. Non-School-Sponsored Activities

CMHS plans and supervises Homecoming Week activities, the parade, football game, coronation, and dance.

Please understand that Powder Puff Football is organized by the Junior After-Prom Committee and is a parent-sponsored Homecoming event. Likewise, activities organized independently by students or parents—including pre-dance pictures, breakfasts, gatherings, parties, and other after-hours activities—are not planned, sponsored, or supervised by Civic Memorial High School.

Families should make their own decisions regarding participation and supervision for these independently organized activities.

👕 Class T-Shirts

Below is a link to purchase a class T-shirt. T-shirts can only be purchased online, and there is a firm purchase deadline. Prices vary based on the design as voted upon by the class. Also, remember that this is a class fundraiser!

👑 Coronation & Homecoming Dance — Saturday, October 3

The Aux Gym will serve as the dance venue. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., Coronation begins at 7:00 p.m., and the dance runs from 8:00–10:00 p.m.

Students will not be admitted after 8:30 p.m. Once a student leaves the dance, they may not re-enter. All students, guests, and vehicles must be off campus by 10:30 p.m. Party buses are not allowed on campus. All vehicles must be off the parking lot by 10:00 p.m.

For crowd management following Coronation:

Tickets 1–250 will exit Coronation on the west side of the gym and walk through the Commons to the New Gym foyer.

Tickets 251–500+ will exit on the east side of the gym and enter directly into the New Gym foyer.

At the conclusion of the dance, all students will exit through the north hallway of the New Gym. Parents will pick up students on the front circle drive.

🎟️ Tickets & Guest Forms

Homecoming tickets will be sold September 21–October 2 during lunch periods for $15 per ticket.

Guest permission forms must be returned by Wednesday, September 21, and approved before a ticket may be purchased for a guest. Click here for a copy of the guest permission form, or pick one up in the main office.

👗 Homecoming Dance Dress & Expectations

The Homecoming Dance is a formal event, and formal attire must remain on throughout the dance. Students may not bring a change of clothes to change into during the event.

Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie. Jeans and hats are not permitted. Ladies may remove hoops from dresses at their own responsibility.

Additionally, no bags will be permitted inside the dance; lockers will not be accessible, and only the Aux Gym restrooms will be available.

Homecoming Eligibility

Participation in Homecoming activities is a privilege. Students must remain in good academic, attendance, and disciplinary standing.

Students should remember the major eligibility expectations:

  • 90% attendance or 5 or fewer absences

  • No more than one failing grade

  • No major discipline concerns

  • Not on active Social Probation/Rule of 365

Social Probation may prevent a student from attending school-sponsored dances and activities. Year-round standards that may trigger Social Probation include 5 or more unexcused absences, failing 2 or more classes during the current term, or accumulating 12 or more active discipline points.

Eligibility

All outstanding school discipline from the 25/26 school year must be served off.

Receiving an Out-of-School Suspension during Homecoming Week may prevent a student from attending the dance. An OSS on Friday will prohibit the student from attending the dance.

We strongly encourage students to make good decisions throughout Homecoming Week. A poor decision should not cost you the opportunity to enjoy one of the biggest events of the school year.

🎨 Color Day Decorating & Assembly

Color Day decorating will take place Tuesday from 3:00–6:00 p.m. Only the Commons and one stairwell may be decorated. Students must use painter's tape only. Lights may not be covered, decorations may not extend into academic areas, and posters or decorations with unclear or inappropriate meanings will be removed.

Students interested in helping should contact their class officers. Participation is limited due to supervision.

During the Color Day Assembly, students who are not participating in an event must remain in their class section in the bleachers and stay off the gym floor. No glitter, confetti, or throwing items is permitted. Students who violate these expectations may be removed from the assembly.

Tearing down decorations, marking on other students, or other discipline concerns during Homecoming Week may also result in the loss of Color Day Assembly privileges.

Students interested in competing in a Color Day Assembly game should complete the survey sent to their school email. The sign-up deadline is the end of the day next Wednesday. Selected game participants should sit in the first row of their class section.

🦅 Homecoming Parade — Friday, October 2

The Civic Memorial High School Homecoming Parade begins promptly at 3:00 p.m., with lineup and staging beginning at 2:20 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the parade will not be rescheduled.

The west parking lot will be completely closed and used for parade staging. Only parade-ready vehicles, floats, and trailers will be permitted into that lot. Limited parking will be available in the north lot.

We strongly encourage participants to prepare and load floats, trailers, and vehicles off school property before arriving. Participants may also be dropped off at the front of CMHS and walk to the staging area.

The parade will travel south on Bethalto Road to the Expressway and conclude at the Public Works Department on Prairie Street.

💜💛 Let's Make It a Great Week!

Homecoming is about much more than a dance or football game. It is a chance to celebrate our school, build memories with friends, and show what it means to be part of Eagle Nation.

We ask our students to have fun, participate, show school spirit, and make choices that allow everyone to enjoy the week. Parents and guardians, thank you for helping us reinforce these expectations and for partnering with us to make Homecoming 2026 a safe and memorable experience.

We cannot wait to see the hallways filled with school spirit and Eagle Pride!

Go Eagles! 🦅💜💛
