All students are eligible for a second semester final exam exemption if they meet all of the following requirements.
Academic Requirement
Students must earn a C average or higher in the class.
Attendance Requirements
Students must meet one of the following attendance criteria:
93% or better attendance for the full school year, or
5 or fewer absences during second semester
Students who have missed more than 10 absences in any one class will not be eligible for a semester exam exemption in that class.
Behavior Requirement
Students must have no out-of-school suspensions.
Additional Information
These requirements apply to both year-long and semester classes.
Dual credit courses may still require final exams.
If a student takes finals early, they must take all finals.
Transfer students may qualify if they enrolled before second semester and meet the same eligibility requirements.
Medical Exceptions
Major medical situations involving hospitalization will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Students with medical circumstances may be provided with an individual attendance goal.
Important Reminder
This policy is an incentive, not a punishment. If a student does not qualify, they are not being punished—they simply did not meet the established requirements.
